The Board Itself.
One of the first questions I always receive when discussing a commission is “do you provide the board?” My answer is always, I can do it either way! I can (and usually do) provide a board, or I can paint one that you have if you prefer.
The Sketch Process.
Prior to beginning any planning, I usually like to speak with the client either in person or over the phone to get a clear idea on the things that you like aesthetically, and the different things that are important for you to have included in the design of the board. I love to feel like I know a little bit about you before I start planning for such a special commission! From here, if you are ready to move forward, I will take a 50% deposit for the project.
Based on our conversation, I will come up with 2-3 sketches, which we will then discuss. From here, I like to gauge what you like and dislike in each design so that I can take that information and create a board that you will ultimately love!
Creating.
These projects will take many weeks to complete once I have found and purchased a board to upcycle if necessary. With this being said, giving me ample time to create (I like to suggest 2-3 months from our initial conversation) is necessary. Depending on my commission que, it could be done faster but it is never guaranteed. If you need me to complete a rush order, there will be a fee.
Throughout the process of creating, I will keep you updated! I like to keep open communication during this time, so that if I have any ideas/questions that I’d like to run by you, I can reach out.
Once the board is completed, I will send photos for approval. At this point, the final payment will be due and I can either deliver locally (currently the San Diego area) for free or you will pay a shipping & handling fee with that final payment.
